Call for four post-doctoral researcher positions for the Horizon 2020 project PaRaDeSEC at the Ruđer Bošković Institute Zagreb Croatia

The Horizon 2020 ERA Chair project „Expanding Potential in Particle and Radiation Detectors, Sensors and Electronics in Croatia“ is a 5-year project that started on July 1st 2015. The project provides funding for salaries of four research fellows, members of the team led by the appointed ERA Chair.

They will jointly with the RBI staff consolidate the current and future RBI scientific and hardware resources related to the development and construction of research equipment for nuclear, particle and astro-particle physics into the new Center for Detectors, Sensors & Electronics (CDSE). Focus is on the semiconductor detectors, particularly on silicon detectors and associate readout and DAQ electronics. On a longer time frame it is expected that CDSE activities will have a positive impact to the broader research community and national economy.

RBI is looking for excellent candidates to fill the four research fellow positions in CDSE. The expected qualifications of candidates, who should fulfill the criteria for R2 (recognized researcher), R3 (established researcher) or R4 (leading researcher) according to the European Framework for Research Careers, are:

  • PhD degree in nuclear or particle or astroparticle physics, or electronics or semiconductor technology or in related field,
  • excellent knowledge and experience in development, testing and commissioning of semiconductor detectors and/or associate readout electronics for nuclear and/or (astro)particle physics research, or excellent knowledge and experience in data acquisition electronics and software including FPG programming experience, 
  • proven record of successful work in international research collaborations,
  • excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken).

The positions are the full time positions, 40 working hours per week. Monthly salary before taxes is from 3500 (R2 level) up to 6500 € (R4 level) depending on qualifications, experience and achievements. Envisaged job starting date is January 2017. Positions are available until the project end - June 2020.
